Title: | AN ECOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE FLORA OF BUKIT TIMAH NATURE RESERVE | Authors: | TAN HWEE KOON | Issue Date: | 1995 | Citation: | TAN HWEE KOON (1995). AN ECOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE FLORA OF BUKIT TIMAH NATURE RESERVE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | An ecological analysis of the flora of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, the largest surviving patch of primary rain forest in Singapore was carried out as an expansion of the studies conducted on plant life-fonns (Turner, 1994) in one of the few taxonomically wellknown tropical areas. Data were collected for the leaf size, leaf character (simple or compound), sexuality, fruit type and dispersal type of each species, based on an intensive literature search. Comparisons were made for these different characters, among life forms and across different height strata. A number of interesting, ecologically significant, trends in the characters examined were found in the process. These are discussed. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/149452 |
