Abstract: Due to multi-field coupling and nonlinear properties involved in the MEMS/BioMEMS devices, the traditional design and simulation methods like FEM have difficulties for the modeling and simulation. The meshless method becomes one of the alternative methods for analyses of these devices because it has some attractive advantages. Two contributions are made in this thesis: 1) to develop and improve some meshless techniques. Several meshless techniques, the local Kriging (LoKriging) method, the variation of local point interpolation method (vLPIM), and the point weighted least-squares (PWLS) method, are developed and discussed in detail. 2) to apply the developed meshless techniques to MEMS/BioMEMS simulations. Some typical MEMS/BioMEMS devices including microswitches, micromirror, microtweezer and hydrogel-based microvalve are studied by the developed meshless techniques. Numerical implementations and results are presented in each chapter to demonstrate the validity and efficiency of the developed meshless techniques. From these studies, it can be found that the developed meshless techniques are very efficient, stable and accurate for the simulations of MEMS/BioMEMS devices.
