Abstract: CRRT is an established modality of acute renal replacement therapy (ARRT). It is one of several forms of ARRT available in contemporary practice for use in critically ill patients. This thesis deals with the biochemical effects of CRRT in severe renal failure and also studies both anticoagulatory and non-anticoagulatory or physico-mechanical factors underpinning its function in clinical practice. Last but not least, its clinical impact on patients in terms of timing of initiation and delivered dialytic intensity are also examined.
