Abstract: The performance of frequency-hopped (FH) MFSK system is studied in multitone jamming (MTJ) and multiple access interference (MAI) over Rician fading channels. Firstly, the exact bit error rate (BER) is derived for slow and fast FH/MFSK system with independent MTJ, Rician fading, as well as the thermal and other wideband Gaussian noises. Secondly, the BERs of MFSK/FH spread spectrum multiple-access (SSMA) and MFSK/multicarrier (MC) SSMA systems with MAI are derived in Rician fading. A new approach is proposed to combine the diffuse components of Rician signals with other Gaussian noises to form a single diffuse component. Using this approach, new exact and closed-form probability density function (PDF) are obtained for the envelope detector output in MFSK/MC-SSMA systems. The PDF formulae are also applicable to a recently proposed multipath fading model. Furthermore, a novel multiuser detection based on iterative interference cancellation is proposed to MFSK/MC-SSMA systems to reduce the MAI.
