Abstract: Hydrogen is regarded as a renewable and green energy which is promising to replace fossil fuels. We have been working on development and modification of phyllosilicates material for hydrogen production. Ni-Mg phyllosilicate nanotubes was successfully synthesized; and compared with pristine Ni phyllosilicate nanotubes it showed more excellent performance for high-temperature water-gas shift. Further, by coating a silica layer encapsulating Ni-Mg phyllosilicate nanotube, the thermal stability increased, and it showed super stability for dry reforming of methane due to its enhanced carbon resistance. Besides, we have also synthesized Ni-Co phyllosilicates supported on silica nano-sphere. The formation of Ni-Co alloy improves the carbon resistance and catalytic stability for dry reforming of methane further. Ni phyllosilicate on silica nano-spheres was also able to be coated with a mesoporous silica layer. This catalyst showed good carbon resistance for low temperature dry reforming of methane.
