Title: | A FRAMEWORK OF CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS ON ERP IMPLEMENTATION | Authors: | TAN CHOON WEI | Issue Date: | 2007 | Citation: | TAN CHOON WEI (2007). A FRAMEWORK OF CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS ON ERP IMPLEMENTATION. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | In this changing environment and globalization, companies are faced with ever increasing competition. To compete in such an environment, companies have turned to information technology (IT) systems to improve their business practices and processes. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is the leading IT system used in companies to achieve increase their competitiveness. ERP is the leading IT system due to the attractive benefits that can be accrued. These benefits include seamless flow of information throughout the entire enterprise, reduction in operating cost, improvement in the quality of products and better organizational coordination. Despite its numerous benefits, ERP implementation is costly and has a high failure rate. A majority of the studies in the literature had focused on identifying the critical success factors (CSF) for ERP implementation; however few studies have examined the linkages and relationships between these CSFs. The relationships between the CSF are important as they portray the inter-dependency of the CSFs, and assist executives to manage the ERP implementation process more effectively. This study develops a conceptual model that depicts the relationships among the CSFs for implementation success. The model was validated using data collected from several Asia Pacific countries. Using structural equations modeling, we found that the proposed conceptual model is valid. This study also examines the length of implementation as a control variable. Results show that company wide support as a CSF has a relatively smaller impact on operational success for companies that have implemented ERP for less than 3 years. Training has no significant impact on company wide support for companies that have implemented ERP for more than 3 years. | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/147380 |
