Abstract: This thesis is concerned with multimedia recommendation, a task of predicting the rating or preference that a user would give to a multimedia item (e.g., video, photo, song). In order to tackle the limitations of traditional methods and specify the recommender methods for multimedia contents, we investigate popularity of items, users' specific interest with respect to different components contained in each item, and the venue context of users to improve the quality of recommender systems.
