Abstract: | Our initial studies employing dc voltage EPD indicated that while adjustments of solution parameters and other experimental parameters allowed control of the amount of zeolite coated, difficulties of surface deactivation, controllability, uniformity and reproducibility occurred. These difficulties can be alleviated by utilizing a pulsed voltage EPD, an approach which has not been previously used for the fabrication of zeolite modified electrodes (ZMEs).Further, we have shown the anodic electropolymerization of 4-nitro-1,2-phenylenediamine (4NoPD), and the poly(4-nitro-1,2-phenylenediamine) (P4NoPD) film exhibited highly electroactive behavior, dependent on film thickness, acidity of the solution and the redox state of the film. Also, film properties were influenced by the presence of the electron-withdrawing nitro-groups. Finally, zeolite EPD was coated by the P4NoPD film. The properties of the composite films were influenced by the amount of zeolite particles. The studies of composite films in the presence of different redox active probes support that the behaviors of composite films can be derived from the combination of the characteristics of P4NoPD and zeolite. |
