Abstract: EXTRACELLULAR VESICLES (EVS) ARE BILAYER MEMBRANE VESICLES THAT ARE ABUNDANT IN BODY FLUIDS. EVS ARE VERY IMPORTANT IN CELL-TO-CELL COMMUNICATION AND ASSOCIATED WITH VARIOUS DISEASES INCLUDING CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES (CVDS). LIPOPROTEINS, INCLUDING LOW- AND HIGH- DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN (LDL AND HDL), ARE RELATED TO CVDS. STATINS, A PHARMACEUTICAL APPROACH TO REDUCE LDL, HAS ASSOCIATION WITH COAGULATION AND RISKS OF CVDS. LDL- APHERESIS REDUCES LDL CHOLESTEROL, AND ALSO SIMULTANEOUS REDUCES THE NUMBER OF EVS AND COAGULATION FACTORS. WE FOUND THAT PROTEIN LEVELS IN EVS AND EV SUBSETS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH HF, ACS, COAGULATION AND STATIN THERAPY. THEREFORE, EV CAN BE A POTENTIAL SOURCE FOR HF AND ACS BIOMARKERS. NEXT TO THIS, THERAPEUTIC MODULATION OF LDL-EV BY STATINS MAY ALTER THE COAGULANT STATE AND MAY EXPLAIN THE ANTICOAGULANT PLEIOTROPIC EFFECTS OF STATINS.
