Abstract: With the development of containerization, the competition between container seaports has increased. This research proposes to adopt optimization techniques to solve operating processes in seaport and to allocate related resources in an efficient way to improve the port throughput. The concerned processes are berth allocation, quay crane scheduling, yard management, internal mover dispatch, security inspection, etc. The first task is, based on an integrated bi-level programming model, the interaction between BAP and QCSP will be characterized. The optimal berth schedule and quay crane dispatch are then presented. The second task is to schedule yard cranes efficiently in order to minimize the handling costs while considering the crane availabilities. The final task is to quantify the impact of security inspection on the seaport throughput.
