Abstract: In this thesis, the method of digital image correlation, which is conventionally used for in-plane displacement measurement, is further developed for out-of-plane displacement and shape measurement using a single camera. In addition, digital image correlation method is also combined with fringe projection technique for three-dimensional deformation measurement. With the help of Fourier transform, this combination enable dynamic measurement since only one image is needed at each deformed state. The theory of digital image correlation and mathematical background of the novel methods proposed in this thesis are described in details. A series of experiments are conducted and the results demonstrate that the proposed methods are accurate and simple.
