Abstract: Electroencephalography (EEG) has proved as an important non-invasive neuroimaging tool in medical diagnostic and research realms owning to its excellent temporal resolution. The main objective of the study is to design and develop an ionic conduction based dry EEG sensor to enable the application of dry electrodes in clinical and research setup. The first part of the study proposes the design of the dry EEG sensor which has a self-sustaining three dimensional rigid fibrous structure. An analytical model is developed to study the possible working conditions of the sensor and determine key parameter which should be focused in the manufacturing step. The subsequent part of the study introduces the manufacturing setup and applies statistical approach to study the influence of manufacturing parameters on the target performance. Third, a comprehensive characterization and performance evaluation of the developed sensor is conducted to ensure the usability of the sensor in the real-world applications.
