Abstract: The thesis is focused on the production of ice slurries for energy storage. The optimum method of producing ice slurries was investigated by performing experimental studies with different experimental parameters. Different nozzle positions were investigated to determine the optimum location for producing ice slurries. Theoretical studies were also carried out to compare and validate the experimental results obtained. A numerical model was developed to simulate the experimental setup and to obtain the theoretical temperature values for analysis. An empirical Nusselt correlation was also obtained from the experimental values.From the experimental results recorded, the rate of ice formation for the range of experiments conducted were obtained and plotted against the theoretical values obtained from the numerical model developed. The effects of changing the experimental parameters such as the flow rate and the nozzle diameter on the rate of ice formation and ice slurries production were also investigated.
