Abstract: Mixed convections of air with Prandtl number of 0.701 in concentric and eccentrichorizontal annuli with isothermal wall conditions are numerically investigated. The innercylinder is stationary and at a higher temperature while the outer cylinder is rotatingcounter-clockwise. The effects of various parameters such as the radius ratio of theannulus, the eccentricity of the annulus, the Rayleigh number and Reynolds number ofthe rotation of the inner cylinder are studied using a two-dimensional finite-differencemodel. Overall and local heat transfer results are obtained. The physics of the flowunderlying the heat transfer behavior observed is revealed by the streamline and theisotherm plots of the numerical solutions.
