Abstract: A mathematical model, describing the behavior of silica gel-water adsorbent-adsorbate pair in a low-temperature driven adsorption chiller, is presented in the thesis.A comparison of simulated results and a representative experimental data set shows that good agreement can be achieved when a realistic time constant for temperature sensors has been considered. The author also analyses the chiller performance under the standard operating condition.A detailed parametric study with respect to cycle and switching time, heating/coolingwater inlet temperatures and flow rates has been conducted.
