dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, we investigate the problem of dynamic routing of lightpaths for path-based failure recovery in wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) networks. Two new algorithms a?? path-wavelength grouping and reserved wavelength channel protection a?? are developed. Path-wavelength grouping algorithm attempts to recover as much traffic as possible rapidly without any resource reservation by grouping candidate paths into link-disjoint sets. In the reserved wavelength channel protection, a subset of wavelengths is reserved to provide full or partial recovery of lightpaths as required by different grades of traffic. The effectiveness of the algorithms is demonstrated through extensive simulation results. | |
