Abstract: This thesis proposes to explore the uniqueness of the Asian Shakespeare Intercultural Archive’s (A|S|I|A) archival ideologies, practices and processes. By foregrounding interpersonal and cultural collaborations as the benchmark of archival practices, the chapters in the thesis, analyze how in A|S|I|A, the digital technologies respond to the archival context and content. The framing and organization of digitized intercultural Asian Shakespeare performances in the archive’s video interface, detailed performance-specific information in the database, and, digitized and translated performance scripts in parallel languages, all underscore how A|S|I|A re-contextualizes intercultural Asian Shakespeare performances and practices for international audiences in a comparative matrix that is culturally relative and digitally networked.
