Abstract: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a global health concern. Although there has been an effective vaccine since the 1980s, no effective therapeutic regimen is available prompting the need for its development. In the first part of our project, a humanized mouse model was used to generate an immune library against HBV for the production of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) targeting HBV viral components. This approach allows us to generate novel mAbs of promising prophylactic capabilities, contributing to the development of treatment against HBV. In the second part, we generated and established a stable cell line from Huh7.5 cell stably expressing the HBV receptor, sodium taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide (NTCP). The infectivity and growth characteristics of our stable cells were examined to determine if it could be a useful tool for the future studies of the virus.
