This thesis documents our attempts to advance the chemistry of rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric hydroarylation reaction. Chapter one is an introduction to rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric arylation. It describes the usefulness of rhodium catalysis, followed by the background and developments in this area. Chapter two describes our discovery of a new type of reaction concept where an isomerization process is flawlessly combined with rhodium-catalysis, to give products in high yield and enantioselectivity. Chapter three describes our report on a new type of reaction concept where the theory of dynamic-kinetic resolution is combined with rhodium catalysis in a seamless manner, to give products in high yield and enantioselectivity. Chapter four describes the use of a novel substrate for rhodium catalysis. By tuning the metal/ligand combination, different target molecules can be obtained and they could be potentially useful pharmaceuticals. Chapter five describes the application of an unprecedented type of substrate for rhodium catalysis, where it involves a combination of the concept of chemo-, regio- and enantioselectivity, and they can be tuned with the correct use of reagents and ligands.
