Abstract: In this thesis, we first investigate the problem of dynamic routing of bandwidth guaranteed LSPs in an integrated IP/WDM network with inaccurate link state information. Based on the threshold-triggered update scheme, we present a probabilistic method to model the uncertainty of link state parameters due to both wavelength and bandwidth inaccuracy which rises from the non-real time update. We propose two routing algorithms considering the uncertainty of link state parameters. The objective is to minimize the impact of the inaccurate information so that the blocking probability as well as setup failures is reduced. Then we address the issue of dynamic load balancing in IP-over-WDM optical burst switching (OBS) networks. We propose a load- balancing scheme based on adaptive alternate routing whose objective is to reduce burst loss through load balancing. Through extensive simulation experiments, we show our proposed algorithms perform well.
