平武白马语晚近汉语借词匹配规律 = THE MATCHING RULES OF THE LATE CHINESE LOANWORDS IN PINGWU BAIMA LANGUAGE

Abstract

The previous research of Baima language focuses on its belonging, and few attentions have been focused on the Chinese loanwords. Loanwords own both features of original and loaned languages. Therefore, research on Chinese loanwords in Baima language can figure out the mechanism and history of both languages. This paper is based on two investigations which build up a Pingwu Baima language database of more than 2900 words, which is the foundation of Chinese late loanwords. The researcher compared the initial consonant and simple compound of Chinese loanwords syllable and Southwestern dialect by matching and historical layers analysis. Different phonetic corresponding forms and time features of words are used to analyze the temporal layers. The results showed that the Chinese late loanwords in Pingwu Baima language may have three layers, namely early, modern and current phase. Meanwhile, some possible missing voice features in early phase of Southwestern Mandarin were also found.
