Abstract: A series of neutral dimetallic complexes of the type [M2L2(H2O)x]I?yH2O (M = Cu(II) and Zn(II), x = 0-3, y = 0-3) containing N-(2-hydroxybenzyl)-amino acid ligands (shown below) and their para-substituted derivatives have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The Zn(II) complexes with hydrogen-bonded adamantanoid network structure and a helical polymeric Cu(II) complex have been found to undergo structural transformations upon thermal dehydration to 3D coordination polymeric network structures. The influence of the non-reactive substituents at the para-position of the aromatic ring and amino acid side chain on the solid-state structure has been investigated in detail. Different types of (pseudo) supramolecular isomers have been obtained for Cu(II) complexes containing the reduced Shiff base ligands with valine side chain. reduced Shiff base ligand neutral dimetallic complexR1 = H, Me, Cl, NO2 and R2 = H, Me, CHMe2, CH(Me)CH2Me, CH2CHMe2, CH2Ph
