Abstract: THE USE OF IMMOBILIZED ENZYME FOR BIOTRANSFORMATION ENABLES ENZYME RECYCLING, ENZYME STABILIZATION, AND CLEAN REACTION. IMMOBILIZATION OF ENZYMES ON MAGNETIC NANOPARTICLES (MNPS) AS NANOBIOCATALYSTS HAS RECEIVED INCREASING ATTENTION DUE TO HIGH SURFACE AREA PER VOLUME, LESS MASS TRANSFER LIMITATION, AND EASY MAGNETIC RECOVERY OF MNPS. HOWEVER, MOST OF THE IMMOBILIZATION TECHNIQUES REQUIRE THE LOW-YIELDING AND COSTLY PRE-PURIFICATION OF ENZYMES. IN THIS THESIS, WE DEVELOPED SIMPLE AND EFFICIENT METHODS FOR PREPARING ACTIVE AND RECYCLABLE NANOBIOCATALYSTS WITHOUT PRE-PURIFICATION OF ENZYME BY SIMULTANEOUS PURIFICATION AND IMMOBILIZATION OF HIS-TAGGED (HIS) ENZYMES DIRECTLY FROM CELL CULTURAL SUPERNATANT (FOR EXTRACELLULAR ENZYME) OR CELL-FREE EXTRACT (FOR INTRACELLULAR ENZYME) WITH NICKEL-NITRILOTRIACETIC ACID FUNCTIONALIZED IRON-OXIDE MNPS. THE PREPARED NANOBIOCATALYSTS SHOWED HIGH ACTIVITY, YIELD, AND RECYCLABILITY FOR BIOTRANSFORMATIONS, AS DEMONSTRATED IN THE PRODUCTION OF BIODIESEL
