Abstract: MEMSwear is a wearable system to monitor vital signs for elderly at home based on Smart-shirt. Health vital signs such as ECG, blood pressure and fall sensor will be transmitted wirelessly to a gateway for data storage and analysis. Bluetooth is found to be the most promising technology for this application. However, due to the limited coverage range of the low power Bluetooth device and high mobility of the wearer, roaming (not supported by Bluetooth) has to be devised. The roaming scheme suggested in this thesis is then tested based on the blue-ns simulation software which is developed in this project as well.
