Abstract: Measurement uncertainty (MU) is an important topic in EMC field. The characterisation of MU aims to provide an appropriate tolerance/budget to the test laboratories, which will be associated with the measurement results of the equipment under test (EUT). It is the purpose of this thesis to characterise the MU in a typical EMC/EMI test system and provide additional knowledge to the existing measurement standards in (1) areas where errors and MU may possibly occur during the testing in an anechoic chamber, their handling and treatments, (2) the improvement of field uniformity and measurement uncertainty in the lowest usable frequency (LUF) region when performing test in a reverberation chamber (RC), and (3) the proposed use of FFT-based time domain scan method for radiated spurious emission test and the finding of its accuracy and consistency.
