ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Studies abroad mostly used medical technology, such as EMG, X-ray, MRI and ultrasound, which concerned about the articulator displacement and muscles activities during speech in the supine and prone orientation, as well as gravity compensation mechanism. Few studies assessed acoustic data, especially the characteristics of voice source. We compared the voice and resonance characteristics of sustained vowels of nine Chinese native speakers in upright、supine and prone postures to explore the influence of the direction of gravity changes on the voice signal and speech signal. The vowels included: [a]、[i]、[u] and[y]. The parameters were calculated: the fundamental frequency, open quotient, speed quotient, and formants number first to fourth. The study investigated changes of the parameters from the vowel variation between speakers and cross-phonemic changes within speaker. | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/136085 |
