The thesis is mainly devoted the Smith and fuzzy control for unstable and nonlinear system. First, the analysis and design of a modified Smith predictor control scheme for general unstable processes is presented. The proposed scheme can yield great improvement of both set-point and load disturbance response over conventional feedback system. Then, the robust PI controller design for nonlinear systems via fuzzy modeling approach is studied. Simulation results show that the transient stability can be improved by using a fuzzy PI controller when large faults appear in the system. Finally, a framework for control of F-16 aircraft with TS fuzzy systems is developed. The proposed control design is feasible and outperforms the linear control design significantly.
