NEW METHODS FOR FEEDFORWARD CONTROL WITH APPLICATIONS TO THE LIQUID DESICCANT DEHUMIDIFICATION SYSTEM. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The liquid desiccant dehumidification system has become popular in air dehumidification due to energy saving and control flexibility. However, its application is limited by few available control strategies, whose main challenges come from lack of high efficient model and measurable disturbance. To deal with these issues, this thesis focuses on the modeling and control of liquid desiccant dehumidifier. A complete dynamic model is first developed from the control point of view. Since disturbance rejection tends to perform poorly if solely based on feedback control, three novel feedforward control methods are also studied, in which the approximate feedforward control is proposed based on frequency response approximation, the predictive feedforward control augments an offsetting mechanism to compensate for its disturbance prediction error, while the MPC technique incorporates disturbance prediction in MPC-based feedforward control. In the light of them, the combined two-level feedback and feedforward control scheme achieves a more responsive control performance. | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/134420 |
