Abstract: Serial plasma estriol levels were determined by radioimmunoassay in 24 patients with severe hypertension in pregnancy. No significant correlation could be found between plasma estriol and percentage change in diastolic blood pressure. It seems unlikely that hypotensive therapy significantly improves the fetoplacental function.
