Abstract: Myosin heavy chain in human plasma was reported as a clinical indicator of physiology status. However, the actual function of plasma myosin heavy chain in vivo is still poorly understood. Here, we reported the evidence that the myosin heavy chain in Zebrafish plasma can bind to Gram-negative bacteria, Escherichia coli K12 via outer membrane protein A (OmpA). Further investigation of the interaction between OmpA and plasma myosin heavy chain revealed that myosin heavy chain may work as a shield to prevent the OmpA from being recognized by macrophage. Our study opens a new perspective on the interrelationship between microbes and host: pathogens can utilize host proteins to escape from being detected by hostb s immune system.
