Abstract: THE CULT OF ZHUNTI (CUNDI) IS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR CULTS IN THE MING AND QING DYNASTIES AND HAS A PROFOUND IMPACT ON THE SOCIAL AND CULTURAL LIFE OF PEOPLE IN THE EAST ASIAN CULTURAL SPHERE. AS ONE OF ITS CULTURAL CARRIERS,VARIOUS LITERARY GENRES REFLECT THE FLOURISH OF THE CULT OF ZHUNTI IN THE MING AND QING DYNASTIES. HOWEVER, AT PRESENT, MOST RESEARCH ON IT IS LIMITED WITHIN SOME NOVELS,ESPECIALLY THE FENGSHEN YANYI,OTHER NOVELS AND GENRES ARE OVERLOOKED. IN ORDER TO OBTAIN THE WHOLE PICTURE OF THE CULT OF ZHUNTI IN THE MING AND QING DYNASTIES, THIS STUDY DOES NOT ONLY EXPLORE THE CULT OF ZHUNTI WITHIN THE NOVELS, BUT ALSO EXPANDS TO MORAL BOOKS,PRECIOUS SCROLLS AND POEMS. MEANWHILE, IN THE FIELD OF THE STUDY OF NOVELS,IT PAYS MORE ATTENTION TO OTHER WORKS,SUCH AS WUSHENG XI AND XIHU ERJI.
