Abstract: IN THIS THESIS, WE DESIGNED AND SYNTHESIZED A SERIES OF NOVEL CHIRAL PHOSPHONIUM PHASE TRANSFER CATALYSTS DERIVED FROM NATURAL AMINO ACIDS. OVER THIRTY KINDS OF NOVEL CATALYSTS HAVE BEEN SYNTHESIZED AND CHARACTERIZED. AFTER ESTABLISHING THE CATALYST LIBRARY, WE TEST THESE NOVEL CATALYSTS BY APPLYING THEM IN DIFFERENT ASYMMETRIC TRANSFORMATIONS, SUCH AS ASYMMETRIC ALKYLATION REACTION, MICHAEL ADDITION REACTION, ALDOL REACTION, DARZENS REACTION, AZA-DARZENS REACTION AND CASCADE [3+2] CYCLOADDITION REACTIONS. IN ALL CASES, POOR TO GOOD ENANTIOSELECTIVITY COULD BE OBTAINED. ESPECIALLY, IN ASYMMETRIC ALKYLATION REACTION AND MICHAEL ADDITION REACTION, EXCELLENT ENANTIOSELECTIVITY (OVER 90% EE) COULD BE OBSERVED.
