Abstract: NEUROINFLAMMATION HAS BEEN IMPLICATED IN THE PATHOLOGY OF MANY CNS DISEASES INCLUDING TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES, STROKE, MENINGITIS, AND NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES. DYSREGULATED IMMUNE RESPONSE RELEASES EXCESSIVE PROINFLAMMATORY MEDIATORS AND REACTIVE OXYGEN SPECIES THAT COULD LEAD TO MORE NEURONAL DAMAGES. ANDROGRAPHOLIDE, ISOLATED FROM ANDROGRAPHIS PANICULATA IS USED AS A TRADITIONAL REMEDY TO TREAT INFLAMMATION RELATED DISEASES LIKE RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTION. THEREFORE, ANTI-NEUROINFLAMMATORY PROPERTIES OF ANDROGRAPHOLIDE WAS INVESTIGATED. IL-? AND TNF-A INDUCED CCL-5 SECRETION WAS ABATED BY ANDROGRAPHOLIDE IN PRIMARY ASTROCYTE CULTURE. THE AYURVEDIC COMPOUND ATTENUATED VARIOUS CYTOKINES/CHEMOKINES EXPRESSION ELICITED BY ENDOTOXIN LPS IN BOTH IN VITRO AND IN VIVO STUDIES. THE REDUCTION OF CYTOKINES IS LIKELY THE RESULT OF ANDROGRAPHOLIDE INHIBITION ON NF-?B AND JNK ACTIVATION. MOREOVER, ASTROGLIOSIS MARKER, GFAP EXPRESSION WAS LOWERED BY ANDROGRAPHOLIDE ADMINISTRATION. ANTIOXIDATIV
