Abstract: AROMATIC AMIDE OLIGOMERS ARE STRUCTURALLY FASCINATING AND EXHIBIT INTERESTING PROPERTIES SUCH AS MOLECULAR RECOGNITION, CATALYSIS, AND SEPARATION, AS WELL AS TRANSPORT AND DELIVERY. THREE MAJOR AROMATIC RINGS, WHICH IS, BENZENE, QUINOLONE AND PYRIDINE, HAVE BEEN EXTENSIVELY UTILIZED AS LINKERS OF THE AMIDE UNITS TO CONSTRUCT THE BACKBONES. IN GENERAL, NUMEROUS AROMATIC OLIGOMERS MAKE USE OF HYDROGEN BONDING INTERACTIONS TO STABILIZE THEIR SECONDARY STRUCTURES. THEY CAN FORM CAVITIES WITH DIAMETER RANGING FROM SEVERAL ANSTROMS TO 2-3 NM. IN THIS STUDY, WE USED PYRIDONE-BASED MONOMER AS THE BUILDING BLOCK TO SYNTHESIZE THE AROMATIC AMIDE OLIGOMERS. BOTH THE CIRCULAR AND HELICAL OLIGOMERS WERE THE GOOD ORGANIC RECEPTORS FOR SELECTIVE RECOGNITION OF METAL IONS. HELICAL STRUCTURES HAD HIGHLY SELECTIVE RECOGNITION AND HIGH CAPACITY EXTRACTION OF HG2+. THE MACROCYCLIC PENTAMERS AND THEIR NANOSTRUCTURES COULD EFFICIENTLY EXTRACT LARGER IONS SUCH AS CS+, BA2+, RB+ AND AG+ PREFERENTIALLY OV
