ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | WE DESIGNED A MOCK ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAPHY (EEG)-BASED BEHAVIORAL EXPERIMENT TO INDUCE COGNITIVE DISSONANCE ABOUT THOUGHT-ACTION FUSION (TAF). WE AIMED TO DETERMINE WHETHER ADDING THIS COMPONENT TO TAF-SPECIFIC PSYCHOEDUCATION WOULD ENHANCE ITS EFFICACY IN REDUCING TAF, INFLATED RESPONSIBILITY, AND OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE (OC) AND ASSOCIATED SYMPTOMS. THE MAINTENANCE OF POTENTIAL REDUCTIONS WAS ALSO EXAMINED. SPECIFICALLY, WE COMPARED A COMBINED INTERVENTION CONDITION AGAINST A TAF-SPECIFIC PSYCHOEDUCATION-ONLY CONDITION, AS WELL AS AGAINST A CONTROL CONDITION, WITH AN UNSELECTED UNDERGRADUATE SAMPLE. MORE BROADLY, TAF AND INFLATED RESPONSIBILITY WERE INVESTIGATED AS MUTUAL MEDIATORS IN THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH OC SYMPTOMS, WITH BASELINE AND CHANGE SCORES.
