Abstract: MULTIFUNCTIONAL ANCHORS AND POLYMER BRUSHES OFFER NON-DEPLETED, ENVIRONMENTALLY-BENIGN MODIFICATIONS WITH TAILORED PROPERTIES. MACROMOLECULAR BACKBONE CONTAINING PENDANT AZIDE AND ALKYL BROMIDES FACILITATED MICROPATTERN OF MACROINITIATOR ANCHOR ON POLYURETHANE FILM. GRAFT-POLYMERIZATION OF METHACRYLATE MONOMERS WITH HYDROPHILIC PROPERTIES REDUCED PROTEIN ADSORPTION, BACTERIAL ADHESION, AND BARNACLE CYPRIDS SETTLEMENT. ALTERNATING COPOLYMER CONTAINING BIFUNCTIONAL CATECHOL AND BENZYL CHLORIDE MOIETIES FORMED SELF-ASSEMBLED MACROINITIATOR LAYER ON STAINLESS STEEL. ANTIMICROBIAL AND ANTI-ADHESION FUNCTIONS WERE ACHIEVED BY GRAFT-POLYMERIZATION OF METHACRYLATE MONOMER BEARING TERTIARY AMINE MOIETIES AND QUATERNIZATION WITH BROMIDE-LABELLED MONOSACCHARIDE. GRAFT-POLYMERIZATION OF THERMO-RESPONSIVE POLYMER BRUSH FACILITATED CELL ATTACHMENT AND DETACHMENT BY TEMPERATURE MEDIATION.
