Abstract: Co-digestion of green microalgae Chlorella vulgaris and food waste was investigated, and the cultivation of green microalgae on anaerobic digestion effluent was carried out. Results show that food waste and microalgae are not suitable co-substrates, and that pretreatment of microalgae did not improve yields. The microalgae however was able to grow on digestion effluent at a rate similar to that on synthetic medium.
