Small ligands-induced synthesis of cadmium complexes with N,N-dibenzyl dithiocarbamate and their crystal structures. Acta Chimica Sinica 65 (18) : 2014-2018. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | A Cd(II) adduct [Cd(DBTC)2(4,4'-bipy)] (2) was synthesized by mixing 4,4'-bipyridyl with the precursor [Cd(DBTC)2]2 (1) (DBTC=N,N-dibenzyl dithiocarbamate anion) and characterized by X-ray crystallography structural analysis and IR spectra respectively. The dimer complex [Cd(DBTC)2]2 (1) has been destroyed to produce new adducts after adding new small ligands. The structure of [Cd(DBTC)2py] (3) obtained by adding pyridine into [Cd(DBTC)2]2 (1) was showed as mononuclear complex and it was interesting that [Cd(DBTC)2(4,4'-bipy)] (2) obtained by adding 4,4'-bipy was showed as a 1-D chain coordination polymer, to the best of our knowledge, which has been scarcely reported in dithiocarbamate metal complexes. Spacer-induced self-assembly of Cd(II) complexes has been successfully carried out by adding the suitable small molecule ligands. The effect on the structures of Cd(II) and Zn(II) complexes by adding different spacers such as pyridine and 4,4'-bipy has been also discussed. | Source Title: | Acta Chimica Sinica | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/106346 | ISSN: | 05677351 |
